Sephora Brand Ultra-Shine Lip Gloss in Hot Pink ($15) is a semi-sheer, shimmery gloss with a sweet taste that glides on smooth and has a doe-foot applicator.
Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Gloss in Brighten Pink ($25) is a sugary, sheer yet bright and smooth gloss that doesn't have an overbearing, synthetic scent.
Stila It Gloss in Smashing ($18) is a creamy, not too bright punch of pink gloss that goes on more opaque than their famous click glosses, but is more sheer than a lipstick.
Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Pink Popsicle ($19) is a bright pink shade that doesn't contain any shimmer. This gloss creates tons of shine, but the only drawback is the icky sticky factor (just warning you). It was a limited-edition color, but I've found some in stock if you act fast!
Lancome Color Fever Lip Gloss in Volcanic Pink ($23) is by far the brightest and boldest pink I've ever worn. And although it looks shocking in the tube it goes on quite sheer. I like to pair it with a champagne shadow and black liquid eyeliner.

Product Review: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

One of my best girlfriends lives and dies for her Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit ($32). She never leaves home without it and claims that the yellow undertone (apparently present in all shades) neutralizes her dark under-eye circles and hides her blemishes and broken capillaries flawlessly. With a strong recommendation like this one, naturally, I had to check it out for myself, and here's what I think:

Initially, I disliked having to deal with the two-step process. I felt there were plenty of concealers on the market that can get the job done just as well in half the amount of time. I thought the coverage was a little bit heavy, and that both the cream and the powder got caught up in the fine lines around my eyes.

However, after checking myself out all day long (yes, I'm vain, but this is my job, folks), I noticed that the powder worked well to mask my flaws with a shine-free finish. It didn't crease much, thanks to the oil-absorbing powder, and it left an undetectable trace on my face — making it seem like I have naturally perfect skin. I also love that it contains good-for-you moisturizing ingredients like vitamin A and vitamin E.

The small pot is chock full of product and will last you well into six months. It's available in 12 shades and should be applied using two separate brushes. Between this and Philosophy The Supernatural, I'm finding that mixing may be the key to getting killer results.

Bobbi Brown has launched a new facial moisturizer for Summer, Oil Control Lotion SPF 15 ($45). This milky, oil-free, lightweight moisturizer contains seaweed to soothe the skin and lavender to control redness, inflammation, and irritation.

It's hydrating, calming, and it leaves your complexion soft, supple, and best of all — during the muggy summertime months — matte. It is recommended especially for those with oily skin to normal skin, but it's fine for combination skin, too.

I love that my face is left feeling velvety and smooth — it's as though I've just applied a primer under my makeup. The only slight drawback is the scent. With all of that lavender you'd think it would mask the smell of sunscreen, but no such luck. It's not a deal breaker, but nonetheless, I thought I'd mention it.

If you're looking for an excuse to drag your guy over to the makeup counter the next time you're out shopping together, I've got a great one for you. This July, tell him that New York Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra is making an appearance over at Bobbi Brown. He may not believe you, but at best, he'll be intrigued.

Alright, so I've just realized that I'm sort-of encouraging you to tell a little white lie. It's not that I approve of lying, but think of it more as coercion. Bobbi Brown is about to release a new, clear and super-moisturizing lip balm named after her good friend Yogi Berra called Yogi Bare ($18). I received one yesterday to test drive and I've already put it on my bedside stand.

The packaging is the same as her tinted lip balms, which means they come in a discreet sleek black tube with a snug cap. It's really creamy, has no scent and once it touches your lips it stays there for a long time — no man (or woman) will want to miss out.

This is a terrific Father's Day gift or birthday gift for any of the special men in your life. Don't believe me? Let's just say that I didn't strike out with my smooth goodnight kiss last night. Seriously, why does baseball always resonate with the male sex?

BellaSugar's Top Five Lip Balm Picks

I've written about my favorite lip balms before, but a year and a half has passed and I've got some newbies in the mix that I seriously can't live without. Lip balms are one of my all-time favorite products because they feel good and they provide instant relief all year round. Here are my top five picks (for now). What's your favorite?

This small, silver Molton Brown Vitamin Lip Saver ($1 is odorless and flavorless. It spreads easily, penetrates deeply and I often find it missing in my guy's dopp kit!
Some drugstore brands have got it right! This cool, roller-ball Blistex Cherry Splash ($2.89) is sweet, thin-textured and fast absorbing to correct dryness and chapping.
Bobbi Brown Extra ($55) is the most expensive salve of the bunch, but it works wonders on my cuticles, elbows hands and on my lips. I can't seem to stay away from the subtle geranium smell and thick shea butter formula.
Lancome's Baume Baiser ($25) came out as part of the Mystery Game collection. Although it's no longer in stock, you can still find a few of these indulgent padded soft rose-marshmallow scented lip balms online in the UK (and have it shipped).
A year and a half later, one of my faves is still the amazingly nourishing Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment ($22.50). It lasts long, it's thick, it smells amazing, and I'm the first to admit that I'm a sucker for the cool screw-top cover.

Back to Basics: The Best Peach Lip Glosses

There's something about peach lip gloss that is universally flattering (but especially on blue-eyed beauties). The challenge is to find the right balance between coral and pink tones.

Kate Hudson wore a frosty coral-peach-colored lipstick to the London premiere of Fool's Gold and just look at how it warms up her skin. Below are my top picks for peach glosses.

Bobbi Brown Brightening Lip Gloss in Peach ($19) is more of a pale, icy shade than a deep creamy color. The shine is incredible, and every time that I pair it with a little bit of bronzer and a champagne eye shadow, it makes my entire face light up. I wish they made the formula a little less tacky, because the only drawback is that I usually have to wear my hair up or else I find that I'm always picking my hair out of my mouth.

Attention all of you body-balm fans out there. This post is chock full of products that I know you'll love! I first became addicted to body salves about a year ago when I discovered this amazing wonderbalm. The smooth, hydrating, and soothing formulas are a great panacea for dry-skin issues since they can be used on your knees, elbows, lips, hands, and cuticles. It was love at first use and ever since I have been collecting more and more in search of the absolute bomb-diggity of balms.

For a while I swore by the pint-sized Smith's Rosebud Salve, but when I was introduced to Liz Earl's Superbalm in November, I became addicted for five months straight. I still think it has the best scent of them all, but my latest acquisition is the Bobbi Brown Extra Soothing Balm ($55).

Bobbi Brown has always been a brand I turn to when I'm looking for good quality basics. This rich, avocado, rosemary oil, beeswax, and geranium enhanced balm has been my saving grace during the cold weather of the past few months. I love the dense texture and because it contains shea butter, it is extra conditioning.

I hate wasting good product on my feet, but I will say that rubbing a little bit into the skin around my toes and heels has really helped keep my pedicure looking fresh. I know that sounds strange, but try it — it works! What's your favorite body balm?

New Product Alert: Bobbi Brown Nude Collection

The makeup artist best known for creating a simple face is rolling out a few new natural tones for spring. Bobbi Brown has just launched the Nude Collection, which features a lip and eye palette ($60) as well as four glitter lip glosses ($19 each).

I know what you might be thinking: "Bobbi Brown and glitter? Huh?" Don't worry — she hasn't lost her subtle touch. I played around with these this weekend at Bloomingdale's, and they're as refined as you would expect. They're mostly sheer, with a hint of shimmer and color. No disco-ball wackiness here.

The lip and eye palette has beautiful, flattering shades that will work with a variety of skin tones. What's cool about the palette is that the compact has two tiers, so you slide the eye shadow drawer out. All of the shadows are limited-edition shades, as is one of the lip colors, so if these colors strike your fancy, you'd better shop while they're available. (These items aren't available online yet, but as I said, they're trickling into stores.) Update: The collection just launched online.

Backstage Beauty: Brian Reyes

Not much can rouse me before the crack of dawn, but yesterday I had a great reason to be up with the roosters. I had a 7 a.m. appointment to see makeup maestro Bobbi Brown create the runway look for Brian Reyes.

Inside the Plaza Hotel, Bobbi and her team of makeup artists worked to create a natural, windblown look. (Even the eyebrows were meant to look tousled.) Watching her work was amazing — she's so quick, so focused. Many of the colors are from an upcoming color collection, so if you like the look of the Brian Reyes show, be ready for some marvy mauves this Fall.

Help Fight Heart Disease With Bobbi Brown's Heart Truth Palette

On Friday, New York Fashion Week kicked off with a Red Dress Collection celebration. The first women to walk the runways were dressed all in red (and most also wore red lipstick) in support of National Wear Red Day. It's the first Friday of February, and it was created by The Heart Truth to raise awareness about heart disease—the number-one killer of women in America. Since this is a cause close to Bobbi Brown's heart, she not only sponsored the show, but she also partnered with The Heart Truth for the third year to create a limited-edition red lip palette. She said:

“I am thrilled to be a part of The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection Fashion Show for a third year in a row. It’s important to educate and empower women with the knowledge they need to make smart lifestyle choices and The Heart Truth does a great job of getting the word out.”

The sleek black palette contains four shades of Bobbi's favorite lipsticks, including Mauve Lip Shimmer, Kir Lip Shimmer, Cranberry Lip Sheer, and Slopes Lip Color with a message inside that says, "Be True To Your Heart." Product Review: Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains

I'll admit that I'm starting to get a little bit obsessed with exfoliators as of late and I'm especially interested in the really gritty ones. So when I found out about Bobbi Brown's Buffing Grains ($40), I just had to check it out. What makes this product unique is that it's a pure powder exfoliator, meaning it doesn't come mixed with any liquid, so you customize it and make it as smooth or as intense as you wish.

So before you start to think I'm a masochist who derives pleasure from scraping apart my face, let me explain. What I love most about this exfoliator is that no matter how much you apply to your face, the grains soften up and become less coarse in water. This way, you still feel them working but you'll never really scratch up your face unless you're scrubbing away like a madwoman.

The main ingredient is a ground bean called Japanese Adzuki, which helps to remove dead skin and encourage cell turnover. I found the grains to be slightly moisturizing and fragrance free — two especially positive qualities.

All you have to do is mix the buffing grains with water or your favorite cleanser and then gently massage it into your skin two to three times a week to create a soft, smooth, and glowing complexion. Another plus is the pour-top glass bottle that makes for easy and mess-free dispensing.

Product Review: Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color

A couple of weeks ago I told you about the new creamy lipsticks from Bobbi Brown. After spending a couple of days with them, I thought I'd report back some of my findings. Usually I am over the moon about Bobbi Brown products, but this one gives me mixed feelings.

I'm not so sure that the creamy effect they were going for was achieved. While the lipstick provides lots of shine and long-lasting color, when it comes to a smooth application, I was disappointed.

The formula is really thick, so it almost feels like a tacky balm as opposed to a creamy lipstick. In fact, I think that warming it up a little bit on your hand before you apply it to your lips would help it glide on more smoothly. I understand that the stickiness is necessary to create shine, but I was expecting a much silkier texture.

However, there is one added and unexpected surprise. The lipstick is absolutely devoid of a scent, which I happen to love given the amount of fragrances in every other product we tend to put on our face. Now it's your turn to try them out. Re-Balancing and Rejuvenating Facial Oils, Part I

I can understand why the thought of applying oil directly to your face might seem a little bit scary. After all, we've been told that oil-free products work best to keep your pores clear and to help keep oily skin matte. But try to strike this information from the record for a moment so that you can learn a little bit about a few non-comedogenic facial oils. These nighttime treatments are a great way to help replenish the moisture level of your skin during these dehydrating winter months.

A little while back I talked to you about Darphin's Tangerine Aromatic Care Oil. I've been using it religiously and the stuff is so amazing that I wish I could drink it! Here are a few more facial oils that are suitable for all skin types. While they are especially fab for those of you with dry skin, they won't make oily skin greasier. They work to hydrate the deeper levels of your skin with brilliant results.

Ole Henriksen Black Currant Complexion Oil ($32) helps calm red/irritated skin as well as shield skin from the drying effects of cold weather and wind. It contains vitamin E to moisturize; lemon, cypress and clary sage to energize; and tea tree oil to fight off bacteria that can lead to blemishes.

Bobbi Brown is never going to come out with flashy colors or super-glittery items, and that's just fine by me — especially when she consistently has beautiful, easy-to-wear colors like those in her new line of Creamy Lip Color. The 14 shades range from baby pinks to rich raisins to marvy mauves, and there really is something for every skin tone here.

What's different about these lipsticks is their texture. They're creamy with a bit of shine, and the color is supposed to be long-lasting. Since the formula has shea butter and other plant-based skin conditioners, it should go on smoothly without any pulling. I just picked up a few of these, so I'm going to try them out and update you with a review next week. For now, check out the colors here.

The official first day of Winter hasn't even arrived, so can you believe that we are talking about Spring makeup already? As strange as it feels, get excited, because from the little sneak peeks I've seen so far, berry lips and cheeks, as well as metallics (of course) are going to be sprouting up all over.

Bobbi Brown is no exception; her 2008 Spring collection is called Raspberry. (I love this model's gap teeth — she reminds me of Lauren Hutton.) Of the collection, Bobbi says:

“Raspberry is a brilliant way to wear color. It brings out the natural flush of pink on cheeks. There’s a shade of raspberry for every complexion — from pink to deep raspberry."

Who doesn't love pink, but hopefully the rest of the upcoming collections are just a little bit more toned down. I think some of these colors look like they'd be difficult to pull off. The line is a smorgasbord of beautiful pink and brown limited-edition products — all of which are great gifts for yourself or for your loved ones! My favorite item is Bobbi's famous shimmer brick compact, which has been created in an unbelievably gorgeous golden-pink combo. I mostly use it as a highlighter, but I also love mixing the shades individually on my lids and using them as a shadow as well.

What's The Wackiest Ingredient You've Used as an Exfoliator?

In Touch reported that Halle Berry used coffee grinds as a body scrub when she ran out of her exfoliator. Catherine Zeta Jones uses strawberry seeds as a skin brightener and exfoliator (she claims it even whitens her teeth) and Christie Brinkley admitted to using kitty litter in a pinch since the main ingredient is clay.

Pretty resourceful ladies, don't you think? I remember when Bobbi Brown came out with Sandbar soap as part of the summer Beach collection and I thought that was really clever and inventive. Tell me, what is the wackiest ingredient you've ever had to use in place of an exfoliator?

Bobbi Brown Rails Against the Beauty Industry

I just finished reading an entertaining story about Bobbi Brown's training camp for makeup artists. It's unsurprising to learn that she's a perfectionist who teaches her students to get every detail just so, and yet she comes off as someone who genuinely wants other women to look and feel their best. "Girls with freckles don't need foundation," she explains. (See, I told you!)

The most revealing part of the story comes toward the end, when the reporter has a moment with Brown:

"I am in an industry that makes women feel bad about themselves, absolutely," she says, when I ask her what she thinks of the beauty industry. And yet within the beauty world Brown has gained a reputation for making women feel good about themselves. "I never in a million years thought I would be the person to go to for self-esteem, that was not my intent. But I happen to love beauty, I love the way people look, and I love making women look beautiful," she says.

It's interesting that she's so blunt with her opinion of the beauty industry. I'm curious: Does it make you feel bad about yourself? And if it does, what would you change about it?

Bobbi Brown Blush in Tawny ($20) is a medium pinky-brown blush that goes on silky and lasts all day. It looks fresh and natural and has been one of my all time faves for many years now. This is great color because it's so versatile. You can use it for contouring or for a pop of color right on the apples of your cheeks.

Little by little Bobbi Brown is releasing a Fall 2007 collection called Stonewashed Nudes. This cool-toned line is derived from taupe, stone and grey shades to create a neutrals packed spectrum of colors that look gorgeous on all skin types. The first product out is called Stonewashed Nudes Eye Shadow Palette ($50). It contains seven different shades that range from shimmery to matte, all of which are limited-edition colors except for espresso (the darkest brown).

Bobbi Brown has a fresh, outdoorsy line called Beach. It's a summer collection that includes body oil, body lotion, body scrub, bath fragrance and her most famous fragrance, which happens to also be called beach.

Yet I think one of the coolest, simplest and most innovative products that she has ever created is Sandbar Soap ($16).

This creamy bar soap has a luxurious lather, a crisp beachy scent and it contains tiny grains of sand that clean, refresh and exfoliate the body all at the same time. For this week's Beauty Mark It challenge, I'm going back to the basics — or, rather, the base — with a hunt for the best foundation sticks. I never considered using foundation in stick form until a few years ago, when I became obsessed with the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick. But increasingly, I love the no-fuss application of solid foundation: I can just dab it in the spots that need it most, blend, and go.

flutterpie's recommendation is Bobbi Brown's Bridal Face Palette, $50. Although this is technically discontinued, there are many of them still available and brand new on eBay. I am anxious to check this out actually. In theory it sounds fabulous, but it's surprisingly gotten a lot of mixed reviews.

audreystar 's choice for the best all-time bridal blush is MAC's Powder Blush in Dessert Rose, $18. This is an awesome pick. I am a huge fan of this color - in fact my Mom has been wearing it for years. I guess Mom really does know best, huh?

New for Summer 2007, is Bobbi Brown's Surf and Sand Collection. These refreshing summer products consist of a light, ocean colored eye palette and three new sparkly lip gloss colors. Bobbi Brown feels "There's nothing more beautiful than a wash of shimmering aqua on eyes paired with a fresh pops of color on cheeks and lips." I totally agree - but then again, with a bit of a summer tan (GASP), I think that all makeup looks better!

Surf and Sand Eye Palette, $42, is a limited edition block of ten aqua, light pink, taupe, sea green and sand colored eye shadows. Each of the colors are pearlized, shimmery and soft. They are very wearable and can be worn individually or blended together.

The three new Shimmer Lip Glosses, $19, are made from the same, original high shine gloss formula we love from Bobbi Brown. They are also infused with vanilla so they smell fab. The colors are Pink Blossom, Warm Peach and Cocoa Bling. They look amazing with the new eye palette and a neutral to pink colored blush for an optimal fresh summer look.

To celebrate the release of her new Living Beauty Book, Bobbi Brown has also just launched a new Limited Edition Living Beauty Palette, $55, for eyes, cheeks and lips.

This convenient palette works for women of any age. The colors can all be used for more than one purpose and the shades are neutral basics.

Inside the palette are six eye shadows (for lids and lining) in: sable, vanilla, chocolate, cement, espresso and bone and three shades of Pot Rouge (for lips and cheeks) in pale pink, pink truffle and velvet plum.

Since we are always writing about the next best thing that is premiering on the beauty market, we can't overlook that sometimes, some of the best colors and products are the oldies but goodies. Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna , $28, is my all time fave bronzer. It's got just the right amount of shimmer in it and there is no trace of orange in the undertones. I can wear it during any season and it blends well with any shade of blush I pair it with. It gives me the best all over glow and I can even dust it along my collar bones for contouring.
