These speakers on legs,
created by 6moons' David Kan, remind me of plant stands, but in the best way possible. It sucks to have great speakers hanging around the house but having to either put them on the ground or maneuver them onto any usable surface, especially when, as a geek, you took time to hunt down the best-sounding speakers!
Kan's solution is an easy, pretty cheap (comparatively), and good-looking one — he used Ikea butcher block and legs and got drilling. 6moons has
step-by-step instructions if you want to brave the DIY front and get an awesome-looking set of custom speaker stands!

Hot oil treatments are a fast and easy way to help restore elasticity, shine and moisture in dry, over-processed hair. They should instantly make your hair look and feel healthier, and they can be done anywhere from once to twice a week depending on the condition of your hair. I found this at-home hot oil treatment
recipe from the Long Locks Hair Care Cookbook and have been eager to test it out.

I spotted these
Wine Cork Placecard Holders ($23.95) at Bright and Bold, which are actually made of resin, and thought they'd make a fabulous and simple
DIY for a bridal shower brunch (or any other event). It's kind of a sad fact that these are being mass produced, but we won't get into that. I'm sure most guests would get a kick out of them, especially my girlfriends who are staunch wine fans.

If you've ever been to a bridal shower, you may have been responsible for helping to
DIY the ribbon bouquet. At bridal showers, it's traditional to gather all of the ribbons together from the gifts and construct a bouquet, which will then be used at the wedding rehearsal.

North is one spoiled pup. Not only does he get tons of love from
me and
my parents, Sugar staffers love to treat him, too.
Angelica created some yummy dog treats for a friend's pooch, and shared some with North as well.I'm adding official office taste tester to his
job description – the video speaks for itself.

If you're anything like me, you like to keep a firm hold on the reigns when it comes to planning and organizing events. Like the saying goes, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. Although I have nothing against professional wedding planners, I personally would want to know what is going on behind the scenes at all times — especially when it's an event as big as my wedding.

You needn't buy a
$19,000 four-poster to get the look of a romantic canopy bed. A few supplies and a spare afternoon and your bedroom will be fit for a queen, without the stuffy price tag. And, if that's not good enough for you, I'll show you
how to live like a modern Marie Antoinette.

When I was in college, one of my favorite professors — hi Manfred. — invited me to a dinner where he served homemade tempeh. I've had it many times since, but it's not as tasty as homemade.

At this year's
Maker Faire, there were so many geeky goodies to check out, I seriously felt like a kid in a homemade candy shop. Held at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds in the SF Bay Area over the weekend, this is the place to show off your homemade inventions, crafts, and projects for the world to see. I love fun DIY projects, and even sometimes like to attempt something new myself, but these guys are totally on top of their game and would put me to shame any day.

This past weekend tens of thousands of geeks and crafters from across the country crowded into the San Mateo fairgrounds (south of San Francisco) for the third annual
Maker Faire, which has quickly become a geek Mecca. The event is a two-day extravaganza that celebrates the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects, crafts, robots, and general geekery.
I will be bringing you coverage and stories throughout the week, but here is a preview of all the fantastic goodies!
