When I think of Wet N Wild, I think of one of two things: a water park extravaganza, or a bubble gum-popping teen cosmetics brand. So, the grown-up in me was surprised to be drawn to the brand's
Mega Glo Illuminating Powder ($3.99).
I do have a bit of a soft spot for the brand, seeing as it was on my go-to list of drugstore buys in junior high.

One of my favourite brands,
Bourjois, has just launched another great holiday essential, to add to my
August Holiday Must-Haves.
Soleil Ambré, (£7.95), is a fantastically subtle bronzing powder, to give you a healthy, weekend-away glow – as seen on the Spring/Summer catwalks at Michael Kors and Etro.
Bronzer is pretty much a beauty essential for summer, and much less messy than a facial self-tan. Try pairing it with pale pinks lips, for a sweetly feminine look.

From first glance, what appears to look like a stick of designer deodorant, is actually a body bronzer. Underneath the rubbery beige cap of
Michael Kors Leg Shine — Classic ($32) lies a smooth (almost oily), deep-amber bronzer that contains flecks of gold. Not only will it create a glowing tan on your legs, knees, arms, and chest, but it also has another function: Leg shine contains a captivating floral smell (
Michael Kors Eau de Toilette) that takes the place of having to wear actual perfume.

It's the season for glowing, (faux) tan skin and with all of the products on the market right now, it's easier than ever to achieve that look. However, choosing the right product can be challenging, especially when two similar items such as
Nars the Multiple in St. Barth's and
Vincent Longo Hydro Stick in Gold Solare exist.

I've heard of waterproof eye shadows, mascaras and eyeliners, but never have I encountered waterproof makeup for your face. However, all of that changed when I discovered
Get Wet ($32), a new waterproof and sweat-proof highlighter and bronzer from
It Cosmetics. The three-pan compact includes a deep, matte powder bronzer and two powder highlighters (one much paler than the other).

Even though there are hundreds (thousands?) of self-tanners out there, I’m pretty lazy about using them. It’s just so much work to exfoliate, wipe on the tanner, and wait for the tan to build. I want instant results, dangit.

Summertime always breeds safe, fun, sunless bronzing products and I've noticed that a few of the new bronzing-powder compacts contain more than one shade in them. The idea is to create a healthy-looking glow, and I suppose the gradation of colors is a way to achieve that look. Instead of having a flat tan all over your face, the variation of shades creates a more natural effect.

Although Lancôme's Cabana Bronze collection isn't due in stores for a couple of weeks, the new
Cherub Star Bronzer ($50) and
Star Eye Shadow Palettes ($43) are already available online — goodie! Last Summer, they stunned us with the launch of a huge face and body-bronzer compact embellished with a bamboo and sunset image. This year they've decided to bring back the popular
over-sized bronzer but instead of a glittery sunset, it features a more subdued cherub imprint.

The Balm is getting ready to launch a new matte bronzer called Bahama Mama ($18) in May. I've got pretty pale skin naturally, so this bronzer is great. It's sheer and it has a soft, gentle bronzing effect, which makes for a fabulous, natural-looking transition product before I have any trace of a summertime (real or fake) tan.

I've been looking at
DiorSkin Airflash for a few months, but I wanted to play around with this kind of product before dropping $60 on it. So finding these new spray-on products from Sonia Kashuk is a delight. The makeup artist's first limited-edition collection, available at Target, includes Eliminate Shine ($12.99) and Golden Summer ($12.99).
