Megan Fox Is Nearly Unrecognizable as a Redhead at an Oscars Afterparty

Megan Fox can unofficially add "Queen of the Underworld" to her résumé following her red-hot appearance at a 2023 Oscars afterparty on March 12. For the annual Vanity Fair fete, Fox debuted short red hair inspired by "fire and brimstone." After cutting and dyeing Fox's hair to achieve the coppery shade, celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos used Unite hair products to style her fresh cut into an Oscar-worthy look.

"We wanted to do something that's different, but also still me."

"Hi, Vanity Fair, I am Megan Fox, although you might not realize that because of my hair," she said in behind-the-scenes footage of her glam session following the Academy Awards. Tapping into her dark side, Fox let her love for Greek mythology inspire her beauty transformation. "We wanted to do something that's different but also still me," she said. "I have this obsession with the story of Greek mythology. I don't want to go into the whole thing, but basically coming back from the underworld, what would you look like? If your hair was set, if all the fire and brimstone from hell was in your hair, you were the queen of the underworld, what would you look like walking the red carpet?"

Fox's full glam team also included makeup artist Jenna Kristina, eyebrow artist Kelley Baker, nail artist Brittney Boyce, and stylist Maeve Reilly. The squad completed her look with dramatic eyebrows, long lashes, embellished stiletto nails, and a plunging black evening gown with shimmering hip accents by Miss Sohee Couture.

This isn't the first time Fox has played with the idea of becoming a full-time redhead. In October 2022, the actor debuted auburn red hair during an outing with Machine Gun Kelly at the Time100 Gala in New York City. Again, the shift from her natural black to a glossy red with metallic undertones was thanks to Giannetos. The hairstylist was also responsible for Fox's silver-lilac hair color in October 2021, and for the star's flipped-bun hairstyle at the Super Bowl earlier this year.

As one of the most popular hair colors of the season, it's no surprise that Fox opted to shift from a brunette to a redhead this spring. Recently, stars like Chrissy Teigen, Julia Fox, Dove Cameron, Francia Raísa, and Blake Lively have also put their own twist on the trend.
