Nope, Megan Fox's Fiery Red Bob Haircut Is Not a Wig

Megan Fox's latest beauty transformation may be her boldest ever. On Sept. 5, the actor debuted a fiery red bob haircut while out in New York City with fiancé Machine Gun Kelly. Though she recently became a redhead in March, revealing a shorter, copper hairstyle at the Oscars afterparty, the combination of the vibrant shade and bob length is a first for Fox. The new look was particularly striking against her muted gray outfit.

"We wanted a major hair change for Megan."

"We wanted a major hair change for Megan," celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos told POPSUGAR. "We wanted to do something bold and very modern to highlight Megan's strong personality!" Though her dramatic hair change could be mistaken for a wig, Giannetos actually achieved the "red velvet" color using a semi-permanent hair dye from Lime Crime.

Giannetos was also responsible for the big chop, which he described as a French bob. As opposed to a blunt style, the French bob haircut is characterized by its layered, choppier ends, and falls somewhere between a pixie and lob. Fox's cut specifically hits right under her chin, skimming her shoulders. Giannetos parted her hair straight down the middle and gave the versatile look some effortless waves.

As recent short-hair convert Jennifer Love Hewitt said, "When a woman wants to change her life. She cuts her hair short." Unlike Fox, Hewitt chose a blunt bob haircut grazing her chin, in addition to dyeing her hair "bropper." Bobs in general have been a go-to transformation for stars lately, whether they opt for an Italian bob or "job," known as a jaw-length bob.
