Love It or Hate It? SJP Goes Brown, Is Downtown

Wouldja look at Sarah Jessica Parker's new haircolor. She just had it done last night at the Serge Normant salon near her West Village home. It's a big change for her, no? (When Pop showed me the photo, I thought it was Madonna.) Now that SJP has ditched the blond hair, it's probably only a matter of time before legions of women start thinking about being brunettes. Take all of my Love It or Hate It Polls here!

It's ok, not bad, not good. Nothing too special in my opinion.

    I think I prefer a lighter color on her...but it's not bad.

Usually, I applaud when stars put down the peroxide and opt for a darker hair color - being a brunette, myself. But in SJP's case, I can't get down with the brown. I realize that SATC isn't real, but I think that most women want to see Carrie when they look at SJP. Plus, her skin is too pale right now for a do that dark.

I think her hair darker ages her...she looks so nice with the blonde! I guess we will have to see once it is done nicely and she isnt hiding her face Eye-wink

It's okay but I don't love it. Maybe I would with some subtle highlights.

If it's so freshly done, the colour will lighten up a tad and even out in the next couple of days. I think it will suit her very well. She always really let her dark roots show so she was really only half blonde to begin with. This will be much more natural looking and I think she'll show us some really lovely looks with it.

I have always thought she had a great skin tone and face to pull off the chocolate brown hair. Pretty.

I don't like it at all, she looks much better as a blonde in my opinion.

It looks red ... esp where she had highlights before, like the brown dye didn't sit long enough.

It's really hard to say, given the picture quality. However, I do think that women of a certain age need to be careful going too dark - it tends to age most people. (I'm not saying she's old, you understand - just why tempt fate?)

That being said, I'm not sure I have the right to critique anyone's haircolor, since I just told my hairdresser yesterday that I wanted my hair cut in a textured short crop and "a color that God never intended." So my hair is almost fire-engine red and I LOVE it.

I don't like it. It doesn't look like it was done yesterday, the roots are a different color than the rest of her hair.

I know her natural color is dark...but this ages her alot. Once you get past 35-40, you need a brighter haircolor to enhance your face. I'm 25, but that's what I've heard most celebs are doing these days.
It makes sense, and with a good haircolor you can wear less makeup.

I don't think it's bad. I think if she's going to rock the dark hair she needs to update her makeup. In these pictures she looks pale and tired- a rosy lipcolor would help tremendously.

But I do like the color, and she seems to be one of those people who looks good as a blonde and as a brunette.

I think it's also the tone of the brown she has...doesn't look real, it just looks...odd. A nicer shade, maybe more chocolatey, less brassy, would be great on her!

It's nice to see her with brown hair but I would like to see some highlights added or something.

I like seeing the comeback of brunette, but this is weird. Very dark and cool, with warm, chunky auburn streaks? Makes her look really pale, in an unhealthy way. What about something more moderate?

She needs to be blond. Brown is not her color at all. Her face is not in the line with brown.

Blonde complimented her face. The Brown really draws alot of attention to her facial structure. Love her but less the attention drawn to her face - the better.

It ages her and makes her look washed out. I think she is beautiful but I don't like this dye job.

I like her as a blond or at least brown with blond highlights. This is too dark!

I think this is more her "natural" color so why not just go with it?
