Three Pain-Free Lip Plumpers

In this day and age, it's easy to make your lips look plumper. The hard part is finding a lip-plumping product that won't leave your mouth inflamed and burning with pain. I've sampled my fair share, and some of the products are just downright scary. DuWop Lip Venom produces a persistent burning sensation, while my experience with Freeze 24/7 Plump Lips Ice Sticks left me looking like I'd eaten too many jalapeño peppers.

Fortunately, there are some great lippies out there that give you a full, sexy pout without any pain. Here are three I've found, but if you know of others, tell me below.

Rather than go for immediate plumpness, LORAC Lotsa Lip Plumping Lipstick ($18.50) is designed to increase fullness over time by stimulating collagen and moisturizing your lips. I used this creamy lipstick for about a month, and while I wouldn't say my lips looked bigger, they definitely looked fluffed and fuller. Plus, it feels great.

The Balm Plump Your Pucker Lip Gloss ($14) is a more traditional plumping gloss with menthol to give your lips an instant boost. But unlike Lip Venom, this one doesn't sting — only tingles pleasantly. I love the glassy texture, and the gloss stays put for hours.

I know I've already told you about Tallulah Cosmetics Glossary Super Gloss ($16), but it's so different, I just had to mention it again. This one doesn't actually plump your lips but instead uses mica to reflect light and make your lips appear bigger. It actually works, and the effect is quite pretty.

I like the Lipfusion XL too, but I also really like Stila's Plumping Lip Glaze! It's super-sheer with a nice sparkle. No pain, just a cool, minty tingle and very moisturizing!

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips is wonderful, as well - a pleasant tingle and great colors.

"left me looking like I'd eaten too many jalapeño peppers"...

Glad to know it wasn't just me. I have tried 4 different lip boost glosses and I have not been happy with the outcome with any of them. And I truly would like to find one that does not leave me with crazy looking lips. haha!

I LOVE The Balm Plump Your Pucker Lip Gloss!!! It also smoothes out your lips if they're lined or dry- my 60-year-old mom uses it because of this and she has full lips. It really makes a difference if you continue to use it.

lipfusion is really good. it doesn't leave a burning sensation. They sell it at Costco for $30, and there are 2 of them. I think it goes for around $40-$50 for 1 at sephora.

I once used a lip plumper by mistake and I have very full lips. I looked like Goldie Hawn in first wives club.

    Be careful with this stuff

glossary is happy to be a bellasugar fav. glossay has more natural plumping ingredients than any lip plumping gloss on the market. Not only does mica reflect light and stay on a super long time, but it hugs lips holding in moisture which is a major factor in the natural plumping of lip tissue. Gotta have it!
