I didn't like the Sephora French tip pen - it was way too thick and almost impossible to take off. There's a fine tip one I like by Sally Hansen though.

I can barely paint my nails regularly though, doing a French manicure involves me spending hours in the bathroom trying to get it to look decent

I have never attempted to give myself a french manicure, but I'm sure that would be a debacle. I do think that a french manicure is best for special occasions, it seems silly not to rock fun colors during non-special days.

i love french manicures because they ARE classic, but I like them better on shorter nails.

Umm...Heidi and Britney ARE tacky, so I don't think I'll be taking fashion cues from them! Still think the French manicure has seen it's heyday.

I don't like French manicures as they look kind of cheap with that glaring white. However, I do love a nice American manicure.

I think longer nails are tacky in general. They remind me of when I interned in a department when all of the women were gum-snapping, big-haired, acrylic nailed tackiness. Nightmares!

I do solar nails, but only cause I'm too lazy to deal with the chipping effects of nail polish. These you can get put on and not worry for 3 weeks, plus my boyfriend would kill me if I stopped cause he says they feel great on his back. I agree, though, they have seen their heydey.

I love French Manis! I rarely get them because with all of my house chores they dont last long.

I only get French Manis for special ocassions.

I do my own at home, using a lighter polish for the tips like the one shown (I use Rimmel, the longest lasting I've ever found and way cheaper too!). But they have to be short. Long nails just look tacky no matter how they are polished. And when they are plasticky, and done white-out style like Heidi, those are as far from French as you could imagine!

I'm sorry but as much as I think Heidi has bad qualities overall, I think she is extremely attractive. She is always well put togetehr usually. Nice well taken care of hair and nails, clean well makeuped face, decent clothes, nice figure (even though some of it is bought...)

When did Heidi and Britney become the fashion trend compasses for us to follow?? I think they are both incredibly tacky and I can assure you I will not be following any trend they attempt to set. As a matter of fact...I probably won't be getting a french manicure simply because both of them sport it.

I agree with 3 of you - not looking to Heidi and Brit for my fashion sense and I have always and still do despise French mani/pedi. Never had one never will.

I just gave meself a silver tipped french last night and how I like it!!! (you cant really notice it unless you really really look because they are silver tipped and not white white)

I mean....Heidi is tacky with her whole staged photo-ops, as is her fashion line, but you can't really knock on the girl's daily threads. She has a pretty nice wardrobe on most occasions. Esp when she was rockin those green dittos. ugh

Hate Heidi but she is an attractive girl, yes, even with enhanced breasts and some lip service. Warren Tricomi does wonders for her hair. Granted she isn't the most erudite or vocally gifted, she still manages to dress with a fairly decent classic sense of style. To put Heidi and Britney, with her sh*t kickin' boots, mangled, distressed hair and unkempt style isn't even fair or reasonable.

As far as the French manicure, I like them on short to conservatively medium length nails and not too pink of a base. I do not care for Shanaynay talons.

I would only get a french mani on a special occasion. I can't even remember the last tome I got one...

I find long nails tacky, as well. And I rarely get a french mani because I don't have the ability to maintain it.

i love them, especially pedis. I just got a french mani/pedi this weekend. I keep my nails pretty short and I don't think it looks tacky at all, I think it looks simple and nice.

in fact, i have been known to give myself a french pedi. My motor skills are not refined enough for me to give myself a french manicure.

French manicures aren't my favorite either...I don't hate them, but I think they're pretty overdone.

I hate French pedis...that looks hideous.

Oh, and I'm glad to see that so many people find long nails tacky, I always have...

I wouldn't follow a trend just because Heidi and Britney are into it.

I've been getting french manicures for about a year now and I'm getting tired of them. I will probably go shorter and start getting colors again for the summer.

I think that a french manicure is a classy look. However, Heidi and Britney sporting that look make it tacky.

Heidi has a nice body but I find her face incredibly unattractive....it has that horselike quality like Dina Lohan.

I lovee French Manicures and I usually either have those or just light pink nails but disgustingly long french pedicures are super gross. I remember a friend of a friends got really tacky long french pedi nails and I was just super grossed out. It was very tacky and they were sticking out her shoes! Gross.

Short nails with a french manicure can look fresh and beautiful. I would not put Britney nor Heidi in the same sentence as fresh and beautiful and certainly not trend setting, at least not in a good way
