Product Review: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

One of my best girlfriends lives and dies for her Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit ($32). She never leaves home without it and claims that the yellow undertone (apparently present in all shades) neutralizes her dark under-eye circles and hides her blemishes and broken capillaries flawlessly. With a strong recommendation like this one, naturally, I had to check it out for myself, and here's what I think:

Initially, I disliked having to deal with the two-step process. I felt there were plenty of concealers on the market that can get the job done just as well in half the amount of time. I thought the coverage was a little bit heavy, and that both the cream and the powder got caught up in the fine lines around my eyes.

However, after checking myself out all day long (yes, I'm vain, but this is my job, folks), I noticed that the powder worked well to mask my flaws with a shine-free finish. It didn't crease much, thanks to the oil-absorbing powder, and it left an undetectable trace on my face — making it seem like I have naturally perfect skin. I also love that it contains good-for-you moisturizing ingredients like vitamin A and vitamin E.

The small pot is chock full of product and will last you well into six months. It's available in 12 shades and should be applied using two separate brushes. Between this and Philosophy The Supernatural, I'm finding that mixing may be the key to getting killer results.

I hate it when concealer gets stuck in the little lines around your eyes. It makes the lines that are normally almost non existent look huge! Anyways, I have yet to find a concealer that doesn't get stuck in my lines around my eyes. This sounds nice otherwise. I love yellow based concealers, they work so much better.

ok, I didn't buy this product but I have her corrector- which is supposed to work with this. I get ok results with the corrector but maybe I should get this, too. thanks for comparing it to the Philosophy palette. I have been pondering that one for a while.

I really don't like wearing undereye concealer precisely because it somehow seeps into the otherwise invisible and nonexistent fine lines around my eyes. I'm 19, and wearing concealer makes me look 35. Sad

    Hmmm, I'm interested.

I didn't have good luck with Philosophy's The Supernatural ($ down the drain Sad ), so I'd only buy this after using a sample.

I use this concealer everyday and it does a marvelous job of masking my dark circle laden allergy eyes. As far as major dept. stores, you can purchase it at Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor and Nordstroms.

I would like to try a sample before I went out and bought it. Right now I use Clinique's all about eyes concealer. It works fine but I always end up with some in the line under my eye. I have to remember to wipe it before I leave the house. I figured this happens with all concealers.

i don't know if they give out samples but go to your counter at a department store and ask them to apply it on you. try it on a saturday so you can go early and then go the whole day long to see how it works! i know they've used it on me before but i haven't paid close attention, so i might have to wander over to bloomies soon and have them make me up!

I saw this in a friend's bathroom about a year ago when I happened to have one of those unfortunate forehead pimples that are so terrible looking they make you want to not leave your place for a while...this product is amazing. Even though I had pretty much dried that part of my face out this concealer went on smoothly and didn't cake even after a long night of drinking and dancing.

I can't imagine something this yellow would look okay on my really cool toned skin. My skin has really pink undertones, wouldn't this stick out? I don't use concealer under my eyes anyway because it always looks chalky and thick.

JaimeLeah - I have pink-y skin and I use this concealer for heavier coverage. I don't ever wear a full face of make-up, so I find this concealer to generally be too much for me, but it's really good at dark circles (which I've had since I was about 10!). It does get stuck in the little lines under my eyes, though, just like all concealers for me, but I just wipe under my eyes with my finger once and it's gone the rest of the day.
