Catherine Zeta-Jones hosted the reopening of New York's Elizabeth Arden boutique yesterday. As usual, she was impeccably dressed, and her hair is as glamorous as you'd expect from an Oscar winner. I think the eye makeup is just a little too much for her, though; what's your opinion?

Yes, it is a bit much, but she still pulls it off. She looks gorgeous. I have to compare her look to Sarah Michelle Gellar a few weeks ago. SMG had too much eye makeup with a harsh putty/powdery lip that was just deathly-looking. CZJ has the dark eyes but the pretty glossy lips balance it.

I think she was TRYING to aim attention to the eyes, but it turned out to be teh wrong kind of attention....her skin looks gorgeous!! she looks very beautiful. I'm undecided.

I like the idea behind the eyes, but ... I think the dark color goes up too high, and her lashes are very spikey/clumpy. Close, but no cigar.

I, too, think it's too much. The eye lashes look very plastic and there's too much area with dark shadow.

Not a fan of spider lashes or mall makeup. A little too clown.It's too heavy-handed. She's beautiful without much makeup, but even scaled back she'd look much better. This look is too old for her--something I'd expect on a 60/70-something. Maybe it looked better from a distance like stage makeup!?

i love the lashes but felt that she should've gone lighter on the eyeshadow color, especially with the flashy collar of her dress.

I love long lashes, these are dramatic in a good way, unlike Tiffany "New York" Pollard.

I like the lashes, but I agree that the eyeshadow goes a little too high up. Otherwise she looks totally beautiful and even the excess eyeshadow is not affecting that.

It could just be the photos and the lighting that makes it look a little much. Which I do think is a little much, but it's meant to be glamorous... and thank heavens she's not wearing gobs and gobs of black eyeliner which so many young stars wear. She looks appropriate at least.

while i agree it's a lot of makeup, i think it really suits her and all we know about czj. she's definitely one of those women that isn't afraid to embrace makeup. love that necklace btw!

I agree, too much eye makeup. The lashes look spikey and weird, and then she has dark eyeshadow almost up to her eyebrows. I don't think the color palette does much for her either.
